ChatGPT is at capacity: what to do

ChatGPT Is at Capacity Right Now means, as a rule, that the service is overloaded with requests. And as more and more people seek to talk with a smart bot, this problem arises more and more often and for almost everyone.

At the same time, as practice shows, very often the ChatGPT Is at Capacity Right Now error occurs not only due to another full house (or maintenance) on the servers, but also for other reasons that are much closer to the user.

Nevertheless, when the service complains about overload and it’s impossible to communicate with the bot, the first thing we do is still double-check the status of the servers – [ LINK] – better than 2-3 times after a while (the system does not respond to failures instantly).

And if we see a lot of red or orange instead of green on the checkout page, then you just need to take an hour or two to take a break from the exciting dialogue with the new bot and wait until the situation gets better (or gets better).

But when the servers are functioning normally (two or more successive checks show a consistently green status indicator) and there are no problems with communication either, then in order:

#1 – CLEAN BROWSER CACHE AND RE-ENTER CHATGPT

The procedure is standard, so just a reminder:

  • in Chrome :  Ctrl + Shift + Del > select “Cookies and other site data” + “Cached images and files” > click the button “Delete data” ;
  • Edge :  Ctrl + Shift + Del > select “Cookies and other site data” + “Images and other files stored in the cache” and click the button “Delete now” ;
  • in Firefox :  Ctrl + Shift + Del > select “Cookies” and “Cache” > press the button “OK” .

#2 – DISABLE OR REMOVE ALL UNNECESSARY BROWSER EXTENSIONS

And this is in case when one of the programs installed in the browser interferes with the normal functioning of Chat GPT (or maybe even several). All in all,..

  • open the browser menu ( 3 dots in the upper right corner of the screen), click ” More Tools ” and then – ” Extensions “;
  • turn off everything on the extensions page;
  • we restart the browser and try to start Chat GPT – if it works, then by typing (including extensions one by one) we find and delete the one that did not allow the chat to work (button ” Delete “).

#3 – CHATGPT IS AT CAPACITY RIGHT NOW – SWITCH TO ANOTHER VPN

As of today, a free VPN service (mobile application) is enough for a successful connection to ChatGPT.

But there are some conditions. You need to connect to OpenAI (go to the chat site) from the region where these services are,  firstly , completely supported. And  secondly , so that this region / country (and the local VPN server) are as close as possible.

Ideally, of course, connect to VPN servers in the States, Britain or Canada (US, UK and CA, respectively), but you can (should) try to connect through European VPNs.

In general, we first connect to the VPN, and only then we go (restart) to the ChatGPT site –  [LINK] . If we see “ ChatGPT Is at Capacity Right Now ” again , we go from another region (or through another VPN).

#4 – GO TO THE BOT PAGE IN INCOGNITO MODE

The method is simple, but in this case it is also very effective. In Incognito mode , we recall, the browser creates a temporary connection (session), which is isolated from the main one and, as it were, does not contain user data.

Therefore, close the ChatGPT page in the browser, and then click:

  • in Chrome or in MS Edge –  Ctrl + Shift + N
  • in Firefox :  Ctrl + Shift + P .
  • … and try to open ChatGPT in Incognito Mode.

#5 – DIFFERENT BROWSER

We just try to access ChatGPT through any other browser. Safari, Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Firefox, Opera, Brave and so on – really anyone will do. Including those that are already installed on your computer (smartphone).

By the way, if ChatGPT on your computer complains about overload, then you can always try to connect not from a computer, but from a smartphone (tablet) or vice versa.

Well, if none of the methods listed above had the desired effect, then we double-check the status of the OpenAI servers. And if everything is still OK on the other side, then it makes sense to do the following:

#6 – CHECK AND UPDATE THE NETWORK ADAPTER DRIVER

If the error ChatGPT Is at Capacity Right Now arose exactly after a sudden connection failure (the light turned off, for example, the next Windows update was installed, etc.) or there is a certainty that the network adapter of the computer is unstable (the driver has not been updated for a long time), then:

  • run  the Windows 10 troubleshooter  :  “Settings” -> “Network and Internet” -> “Status” (left) -> “Network Troubleshooter” (right);
  • reboot the network adapter :  “Settings” -> “Network and Internet” -> “Status” (on the left) -> “Network reset” -> “Reset now”;
  • restart the router ;
  • reinstall the network adapter driver: Device Manager> Network adapters> RMB by device name> Update driver> Automatic search for updated drivers.
